The American Legion George G Luckey Post 57 will be holding a tenderloin fry on Thursday at 5:00 p.m. The Post is located at 105 N R Ave Vinton.The menu includes:Tenderloin, French Fries, Cole Slaw and a Dessert.Adults: $12.00

Thank you for your patronage! Vinton Lions Club last Tenderloin Tuesday of the Season is Tuesday, August 23rd from 5-7PM. We will be participating in Boomfest downtown Vinton, Saturday, August 27th from 10AM to 2PM. Look for us next to the field during the Vinton-Shellsburg Football games! The season kicks off on Saturday, September 2nd.Make sure you stop by for Tenderloins, Funnel Cakes, Hot Dogs, Snow Cones, Pop and more. Something all gardeners have, besides dirty fingernails, is a constant hunger for more gardening information. Center Point Friends of the Library will feed the need by sponsoring the Linn County Master Gardener talks every Thursday in September. This will bring added fun to Farmers Market from 5-7 p.m. at Celebration Park. multiple food trucks will be there...Antonio's, Beast and Bird and Good Morrow Pizza!Rachel Darling will also be bringing the entertainment to be enjoyed by all! Better Together Shoes for Shelter Drive in Progress
Our Shoes for Shelters drive is in full swing and we are still needing nearly 3,000 pairs of new and gently worn shoes to reach our goal! Shout out to Stacy at Grant Wood for setting up this collection bin for us! If anyone else would like to set up a bin at their workplace, we would be so grateful! Things are really tight for families right now. Don't feel bad, everyone is struggling to pay their bills and feed the family. If you need some help making the groceries stretch, there is a food pantry available on the 3rd Saturday of each month.From 10-11 a.m. bring your bags and some help, to carry the goodies home with you! The pantry is available at Wesley United Methodist Church located at 516 2nd Ave.
Benton County Historical Society Presents the Story of Billy Sunday August 21
The Benton County Society will host guest presenter historian Craig Bishop of Hutchinson, Minnesota. He will present the unbelievable but remarkable true story of Billy Sunday. The event will take place at the Vinton Depot on Sunday, August 21 beginning at 1:00 p.m. The depot is located at 612 2nd Ave. in Vinton.Billy was born near Ames, Iowa on November 19. It’s not that the Center Point Historical Society believes the Underground Railroad quilt code myth like gospel or wants to promote historical untruths at its Aug. 28 annual Log Cabin Festival. But the excuse for a quilt display was just too good to pass up.The theme for the Sunday, Aug. 28, 2-4, free Log Cabin Festival at the Depot Museum is the Underground Railroad which helped enslaved people escape to freedom in the North and Canada before the Civil War.
